Why the Crab?!
For those who do not know, I am a retired veteran of 13 years in the Army. A large chunk of that time was spent as an Airborne Infantryman in the 82nd Airborne. One of my battle buddies had the last name of Sebastien, which eventually morphed into him being called Seabass. In keeping with his legacy, my name morphed from McCabe, to McCrab, and finally to just Crab. I carried that moniker the entirety of my time at the 82nd, to the point where the plaque I was gifted upon leaving was signed off with "Good luck Crab Cakes."
When I moved on from the Infantry and became an Army Recruiter, I didn't want potential recruits to find my personal social media pages, so I changed my last name to McCrab as a throwback to my Airborne days. It got to the point where anyone I interacted with in the whiskey world, and even old friends thought my last name was literally McCrab. So I owned it completely. The crab has now become my calling card, and once again, has become how most people address me.

I Spy
Since embracing the crab fully, it has become my own mark of ownership on the whiskey projects that I touch. You can find a crab hidden on all labels that I am proud to call myself a part of. Some are much more obvious than others, but hopefully the hunt for the crab on each label is as fun to seek out as it is for me to hide.
