MSRP: $98.99
Mash: 93.3% corn, 6.7% malted barley
Proof: 145 Age: 9 Years 0 Months
Nose: a rush of sweetness greets you with funnel cake, brown butter, raspberry and cherry syrup, and powdered sugar, corn is present but it almost presents like a corn salt water taffy
Palate: now comes the corn. Buttered corn on the husk, cherry syrup, cracked leather, caramel candy, nougat, dried tobacco
Finish: beautifully long finish of corn and tobacco
Rating: I won't rate barrels I've picked (Out of Hoard, Buy, Try, Pass)
Thoughts: I love this pour so much. It immediately transports you to a fairgrounds serving up buttered corn and cherry taffy or slushes. It is a wildly unique whiskey, and unlike any other corn whiskey on the market right now. Having been aged in an ex-Heaven Hill barrel, is probably why it is so reminiscent of Mellow Corn vs other corn whiskeys. That aside, this is what Mellow Corn wishes it could be. An absolute flavor bomb that dives deep into sweet and earthy flavors. This is what Heaven Hill should have released as their Heritage collection. For a fraction of the price, Laws accomplished what my favorite large distillery couldn't quite pull off.
