MSRP: $125
Mash: 100% Maine rye
Proof: 90
Age: 7 years
Nose: subtle maple glaze, rose hips, dry tobacco, sweet mint, red apple flesh, nougat
Palate: the palate takes everything from the nose and just turns the dial all the way up, it layers in waves of caramelized grain that mingles with the sweet mint beautifully
Finish: medium finish of maple glaze and sweet mint lingers on the mid to back palate
Rating: Buy it (Out of Hoard, Buy, Try, Pass)
Thoughts: This is just a good pour. The nose is much more subtle than the palate, and the finish isn't very long, but the experience from start to finish is just a beautiful ride. This is a perfect Fall pour. The nose may be delicate, but it beckons you to keep coming back. The palate makes you day dream of colder weather. And then the sweetness on the finish makes you want to start all over again. The price is a little on the higher end, but for the whiskey world today, I'd say it still has a good value. I just wish it was cheaper because I could destroy a quarter of a bottle before realizing what I've done.
